Tahsildar MN Heggan said that Dharmasthala Sangha has remained in the minds of the people not only for its loan facilities but also for its pro-people services to strengthen the social, economic and family systems of the people in rural areas. He was speaking at the closing ceremony of the 1947th alcohol abstinence camp held at Savadatti.
This is a useful programme that will lead the youth who are currently falling into vices to the right path. He said that the service of the association, which along with providing loan facilities, dredging lakes for the development of villages, promoting cottage industries, and conducting various religious programs including alcohol abstinence camps to maintain the health of the society, is memorable.
The addiction to alcohol, which is fatal to the family system, has increased among today's youth. Due to this, many families have fallen on the streets. They were told to free themselves from these and contribute to the building of a strong society with good education and take a pledge to live with dignity and start a new life.
District Project Director HR Lavakumar said that the organization, which acts as a link between the bank and the customers, provides loan facilities to self-employed people. More than 900 lakes have already been dredged. Monthly shelters have been built for 400 needy families, he said.
