In a gesture celebrating the contributions of former Chief Minister SM Krishna, MLAs KM Uday and MLC Dinesh Gooligowda handed over demand drafts to the University of Mysore and the Ramakrishna Ashram as part of the Divya Chetana SM Krishna Endowment.

At a ceremony held on Saturday at the Ramakrishna Ashram, MLA KM Uday presented a Rs 10 lakh DD to the University of Mysore, which will fund gold medals for two top-ranking students. MLC Dinesh Gooligowda contributed Rs 5 lakh to the Ramakrishna Ashram to honour the top student among those studying there.

The DDs were received by Swami Muktidananda of the Ramakrishna Ashram and University Vice-Chancellor Dr Lokanath. Uday praised Krishna’s life and achievements, stating, “His discipline and vision have shaped not just Mandya, but the entire state. This endowment ensures his values live on.”

Gooligowda echoed the sentiment, adding, “The Ramakrishna Ashram played a major role in building Krishna’s character. His life remains an inspiration for the youth.”

Swami Yuktidananda, former MLC Madegowda, HA Venkatesh, Vikrant Devegowda, Omkar, Satyananda, and others were present at the event.

To preserve SM Krishna’s legacy, who rose from Mandya to hold key positions at both state and national levels, a total of eight endowments have been created by his admirers and elected representatives.
