Cut down illegal slaughter of cattle, ADC BT Kumaraswamy instructs

Additional Deputy Commissioner BT Kumaraswamy said that all the departments concerned should act responsibly to prevent the illegal slaughter of cows and camels during the Bakrid festival celebrations in the district.
He spoke while presiding over the District Animal Welfare Association Management Committee on Friday.
He instructed the officials to take appropriate measures to prevent the unauthorised slaughter and transportation of cattle during the Bakrid festival celebrations.
In the year 2025-26, under the programme to support Pinjar Pole and other cowsheds in Mysore and government cowsheds, the government has provided grants to cowsheds of Adichunchanagiri Cowshed in Katralu Kere, Rajarajeshwari Cowshed of Rajarajeshwari Temple Trust in Muthaiyanahatti, Muthaigala Swamy Cowshed of Nanniwala Bommadevarahatti in Challakere Taluk, Nandamasand Bawaji Parampara Sri Venkateswara Temple Bawaji Sevashram and Sewalal Devara Hasugala Go Rakshana Trust in Nandanahalli, Hirekerekavalu Chowdeshwari Cow Protection Trust, Muttigara Devara Ethugala Kshemabhrivriddhi Trust in Nanniwala Kattemane, Sriranganatha Swamy Devara Ethugala Go Rakshana Trust in Gowdagere in Nayakanahatti Hobli, Molakalmuru Taluk.
Dr N Kumar, Deputy Director of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Department, informed the meeting that proposals have been received from a total of 10 cowsheds in district.
The Zilla Panchayat should take action to level the land. BT Kumaraswamy said that a proposal should be submitted to the government for the construction of an additional cattle shed.
Under the Mahatma Gandhi Employment Guarantee Scheme, 9.36 acres of land in the Punyakoti Government Cowshed land of Kurudihalli needs to be leveled due to presence of a ditch and a pothole. The in-charge of the Kurudihalli Punyakoti Government Cowshed brought to the notice of the meeting that there is a need to construct an additional shed for 100 cattle under the Mahatma Gandhi Employment Guarantee Scheme.
