Former Minister and MLC C.T. Ravi has accused the Congress party of being against Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and the Indian Constitution, calling it part of the party’s DNA.
Speaking at the BJP state office, Ravi said Congress has always had an anti-constitutional mindset. He pointed out that Dr. Ambedkar had opposed Article 370, but it was implemented by Jawaharlal Nehru. He also noted that the Uniform Civil Code, which Ambedkar included in the Constitution, has not been implemented to date. Ravi alleged that Congress leader D.K. Shivakumar recently hinted at changing the Constitution during a TV interview.
Ravi further claimed that Congress supports caste-based reservations against the principles of the Constitution. He cited the 4% reservation based on caste, which was upheld when Congress was in power. Referring to the Shabano case during Rajiv Gandhi’s tenure, he said Congress amended the Constitution to overturn the Supreme Court’s decision.
He also alleged that AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, instead of talking about wealth distribution to the poor, spoke about distributing it to Muslims. Criticizing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, he said despite knowing the Constitution does not allow caste-based reservations, he introduced them for vote bank politics. Ravi asserted that Congress prioritizes politics over constitutional values.
