Congress will win again: CM Siddaramaiah in Assembly
Bengaluru
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday asserted that Congress would win the next assembly elections, and he would remain Chief Minister for another five years. His remarks came in response to protests by BJP members in the Assembly, who opposed the appointment of Congress workers as chairpersons and members of the guarantee implementation committees.
"We Will Win Again"
Countering the opposition’s allegations, Siddaramaiah said, "We will not go. We will win again. You cannot win (election). There is no second view about it." He also reminded the BJP that they lost the recent bypolls in Channapatna, Shiggaon, and Sandur, despite challenging Congress before the assembly polls.
Opposition's Objection to Committees
Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka accused the Congress government of setting a wrong precedent by appointing party workers to the committees, arguing this would weaken the role of elected representatives. BJP leaders also submitted a memorandum to Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, calling these committees "unconstitutional."
Siddaramaiah assured that the rights and privileges of MLAs and MLCs would not be compromised, saying, "We too have respect for MLAs and MLCs as you have, because I am also an MLA." However, he defended the appointments, noting that previous governments had also involved party workers in governance roles.
The CM promised to hold a meeting with BJP MLAs to discuss their grievances and resolve genuine issues while standing firm on continuing with the guarantee committees.
