Claiming that the Sangh Parivar never took part in freedom struggle but now they talk about patriotism, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the Congress party workers must know that both Veer Savarkar and Golwalkar were against Constitution written by Dr BR Ambedkar.

Delivering a special lecture at the "Yuva Kranti" training camp organized by the Youth Congress here on Saturday for the party cadres, he said Congress played a significant role through sacrifice and dedication in the freedom struggle and construction of modern India. The party was born to provide civil rights and social justice to the nation.

He described the Youth Congress as the youth army standing for the protection of India's Constitution and pluralism. You must have clarity on why we are building Congress and how the RSS and Sangh Parivar are against India's pluralism and Constitution.

Without this clarity, it is doubtful how long one can remain in Congress. Freedom, equality, fraternity, tolerance, and coexistence are the breath of our Constitution, they are also the soul of India.

The Chief Minister said Dr Ambedkar himself wrote that Savarkar and Dhange were responsible for his defeat in elections. If one has clarity and commitment, no matter what others do, they will not waver. It was BJP’s Rama Jois who went to court opposing the reservation provided by Rajiv Gandhi. However, the judiciary upheld Rajiv Gandhi’s constitutional amendment, recognizing it as constitutional. BJP had even opposed the Mandal Commission report which promoted reservations for the backward classes.

The Chief Minister called upon the youth that if they have clarity about history and ideology, they would grow into good leaders. Workshops like the one organized today by the Youth Congress should be held in all districts of state.
