The Comprehensive Survey of Scheduled Castes-2025 in Uttara Kannada district has achieved an impressive 100.32 percent success rate so far, reflecting the dedicated efforts of the staff involved. The survey, conducted under the guidance of the single-member inquiry commission headed by Justice HN Nagamohan Das, aims to accurately document the Scheduled Caste population and households for reservation classification purposes.
The district’s target was to survey 26,617 Scheduled Caste households based on the 2011 census; however, 28,964 households have already been surveyed, marking an achievement of 108.82 percent. Similarly, the Scheduled Caste population target was 1,16,781 for 2025, but 1,17,156 people have been surveyed, exceeding expectations.
To ensure accuracy and smooth execution, the survey team includes 1,445 enumerators, 156 reserved enumerators, 144 supervisors, and 19 reserved supervisors. Training support has been provided by four district master trainers and 57 taluk master trainers, alongside a technical consultant resolving survey-related issues.
The survey period has been extended until May 29, with special camps in polling booth areas rescheduled from May 30 to June 1. Online self-declaration will also continue through June 1. Authorities expect the Scheduled Caste population figures to increase further during this extension, underscoring the importance of comprehensive data collection and community participation.
The survey aims to collect comprehensive data on the social, educational and occupational conditions of all Scheduled Castes in the state and also to classify the internal reservation based on the data collected based on various criteria followed in the survey. There are 42 questions in which comprehensive information is being collected including family, social, economic, educational and occupational matters of the Scheduled Caste persons.
