Commissioner K.A. Dayanand Visits BCM Hostel
Mysuru: The Commissioner of the Department of Backward Classes Welfare, K.A. Dayanand, visited the BCM (Backward Classes and Minorities) hostel located in Kuvempunagar on Tuesday and conducted an inspection.
As part of his official duties in Mysuru, he visited the hostel and examined the storeroom, kitchen, rooms, and toilets. He also had lunch at the hostel and interacted with the students.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been giving special encouragement for the educational progress of backward class children. The state government has approved the establishment of 150 new hostels, including 14 in the Chief Minister’s home district, which will benefit students coming to Mysuru for education from all corners of the state.
He emphasized that wardens must ensure quality food is provided to students and give top priority to cleanliness in hostels. Since many students from rural farming families stay in these hostels, it is important to create a conducive environment for their studies. He also stressed the need to encourage students to take up competitive exams.
