CM seeks approval for Karnataka highway projects

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, today and submitted a request letter seeking approval for additional road projects aimed at improving connectivity and boosting the state’s economy.
The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to the Union Minister for supporting Karnataka’s National Highway expansion. He highlighted several major projects already sanctioned by the Centre, including the construction of a flyover at Manipal Hospital Junction in Mysuru (NH-275), a 30.35 km Hubballi-Dharwad Expressway Bypass, and the development of key bridges over Sharavati backwaters (NH-369E) and the Krishna River (NH-167). Other ongoing projects include the construction of a two-lane road overbridge at Sudha Cross, Bellary (NH-67), and the widening of the Sindigeri-Bellary section (NH-150A).
During the meeting, Siddaramaiah also urged the Union Minister to approve several new proposals. Key requests included the construction of nine grade separators on NH-275 in Mysuru to ease traffic congestion, a tunnel on NH-75 between Maranahalli and Addhole to improve Mangaluru-Bengaluru connectivity, and the early approval of the Pune-Bengaluru Greenfield Expressway. Additionally, he requested the sanctioning of a flyover at Hebbal Junction in Bengaluru, an elevated corridor in Belagavi, and widening of roads in the Kalaburagi-Wadi-Yadgiri section.
The Chief Minister further sought the declaration of key roads as National Highways to enhance connectivity. In his letter, he urged the Union Minister to expedite approvals for these projects, emphasizing their importance for Karnataka’s social and economic development.
