CM raps youth empowerment and sports department

At the review meeting of the Youth Empowerment and Sports Department held in the committee room of Vidhan Soudha, he took dig at officials' negligence.
The Chief Minister questioned what is the point of doing this if the purpose of the authority is not fulfilled and gave clear instructions that the authority meetings should be held regularly.
He instructed to study the working of the Sports Authority of India in detail and take action to conduct sports activities within our limits in a better way.
He gave a clear instruction that the authority should become active in the next five to six months, before the start of the Dussehra Games.
He expressed dissatisfaction over the failure to appoint the necessary coaches despite the approval of the Finance Department and took the officials to task.
He instructed that organizations that only come on letterheads as national and international sports events should be stopped and those that conduct sports events should be encouraged.
It was discussed about recognizing Kambala as a rural sport and giving encouragement.
Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who came online from Channapatna for a video conference during the progress review of the sports department, requested that funds be released for the Channapatna stadium. The Chief Minister instructed the officials to take necessary action.
Athletes should be given sufficient nutritious and protein-rich food. The Chief Minister instructed to conduct frequent inspections and take action against the wardens if any lapses are found and submit a report. He also instructed to make surprise visits to sports hostels, have meals there, check the quality of the food and submit a report.
