The city has earned the distinction of being the 'Cleanest City' of the state. The corporation has been decorated with the award in the Clean Survey given by the Central Government every year. The city has secured the first position in the survey state ranking in cities with a population of 3 to 10 lakhs. City has received this award at the national level for its excellent performance in cleanliness and solid waste management. City Corporation has received the Ministerial Award from the Central Government in the cleanliness survey of 2024-25.

City was also ranked 6th in the state rating in cleanliness and waste management last time, has risen to first place this time. It has also secured 32nd place at the national level. Municipal Commissioner Renuka received this award along with her staff at a program held in Delhi.

The civil servants have managed solid waste in the city under the Swachh Bharat Mission scheme. With the implementation of works, waste collection from houses, waste segregation, and waste processing, they have made great progress in the cleanliness of the city. The efforts of the public, civil servants, vehicle drivers, cleaners, loaders, and health inspectors have increased in waste collection. All the sanitation staff and engineers have worked for this award. Also, the fact that the common people do not throw garbage everywhere, but give garbage to the garbage truck that comes in front of their houses is helpful in maintaining cleanliness.
