A plastic type of rice was found in the rice distributed to school children in the district. The discovery of plastic bead-like substances in the rice supplied to the children's literal dasoha hot water has created panic in the district. Plastic-like beads were found floating in the water when the cooks were washing rice when they tried to prepare mid-day meals for school children. The kitchen staff immediately woke up and brought it to the notice of the school principal.
One such bead was found in a sack sent to the school when the teachers checked the rice supplied for the mid-day meal. If the cooks had cooked without proper attention, a major disaster would have happened, he said. There are more than 200 children in Madikeri Government Frouda School and all the children are children from the poorer sections. It is ironic that even the mid-day meal rice of these poor children is being adulterated and supplied.
Such beads were found in a bag of rice that arrived just two weeks ago and the rice supplied was brought to the notice of the school management and sdmc high-level officials and the rice supplied was returned. It is not just a ration that is supplied to children, but also to fair price shops.
