Bodies Of Two College Students Found In Sea
Mangaluru
The bodies of two students, who lost their lives in the sea near Alimakallu in Someshwara on Saturday, were found in the same area on Sunday morning. Local swimmers were engaged in continuous operation from Saturday evening till Sunday morning. The deceased have been identified as Yashvith (18), son of Shekar, a resident of Kunjathur Adka in Manjeswaram and Yuvaraj (18) son of Jayendra, a resident of Kunjathur Majal.
Six students, including Yashvith and Yuvaraja, who were studying in a college in Someshwara, had left for Someshwara temple after completing their college at 12.40 pm on Saturday. After participating in the puja, they had lunch at the temple and sat there under a nearby tree. After about three hours, they took breakfast from a local godown and walked about a kilometre from the temple towards Uchila. They walked by the side of the sea at Someshwara, then ventured into the sea near Alimakallu. While the four were sitting on the seaside, Yuvraj and Yashvith got into the sea water and went near the stone. When Yuvraj slipped and fell into the sea, Yashvith went to rescue him and got caught in the water. When they saw two classmates drowning in the sea, they tried to rescue them using a tyre tube kept in an adjacent shed and when they could not be rescued, they screamed. By then, the two had reached the sea and local swimmers had arrived and launched a search. They searched till late in the night but could not find either of them. It is common for students from various colleges, including tourists, to come in large numbers to the beach in Someshwara range and play with the sea curtains. Local lifeguard swimmers in the area and police and home guards on the shore warn tourists venturing into the sea.
