A team of Bihar rural development and panchayat raj (RDPR) officials visited Gudpalli and Duphatmahagao, which emerged as model Gram Panchayats (GP) with the Gandhi Gram award in 2022-23, in Aurad taluk of district. This exposure visit aimed to share knowledge and exposure on development projects of these two GPs that can be learnt and implemented by Bihar RDPR.
The team visited the GPs and observed facilities like WiFi installation, garden construction, wheelchairs for the physically challenged, projectors, Karnataka One, etc. They also visited infrastructure provided by GPs in villages.
Aurad Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Manikrao Patil said that a mini stadium involving volleyball and basketball courts was constructed utilising the MGNREGA scheme, and cleanliness is maintained at anganawadis. Shivakumar Ghante, Kamalnagar Taluk Executive Officer, said that thanks to Panchayat Development Officers of both GPs, these villages received appreciation from the prime minister and chief minister. Amrut Sarovar, constructed here, increased the water table in 2 km of the surrounding area, he told Bihar officials.
Jayaprakash Chavan, Admin Manager, Zilla Panchayat office, said that RO units are installed at schools and decorative plants are grown around the lake. Children's parks contain boating facilities at lakes.
Sujeet Kumar, Block Panchayat Raj Officer, Bihar, said that he saw well-maintained lakes in Duppatmahagaon and Gudpalli. This initiative is a classic example of how to conserve water bodies and how to develop them as tourist places too. We are totally mesmerised by the development works at both GPs, he added.
