Many allegations are being made against Mahesh Joshi, State President of Kannada Sahitya Parishad. The government should immediately form a commission to investigate this matter, conduct an investigation and take action against him. If it is proven illegal, then immediately cancel it and hold fresh elections, said senior writer and former President of the Kannada Book Authority SC Siddaramaiah.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Kannadigara Jagruti Samavesha organized by the Kannada Nadu, Nudi Jagruti Samiti at Ambedkar Bhavan on Saturday, he said that after becoming the President, Joshi has taken away freedom of expression. He has undermined the aspirations of democracy. He has brought party politics and polluted the Parishad itself. Not only that, there has been a lot of financial indiscipline during his time. He is behaving like a dictator. We are demanding the truth. The government should form a commission to investigate all these irregularities and take necessary action.
Freedom of expression is very important in a democratic system. It was cultivated by Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar through the Kannada Sahitya Parishad.
Mandya District Kannada Sahitya Parishad President Jayaprakash gave a keynote speech and said that our struggle is not against the Kannada Sahitya Parishad, our struggle is against the dictatorial President there. This should be understood by all the members of the Kannada Sahitya Parishad.
Farmer's leader Sunanda Jayaram also spoke.
Former President of Kannada Book Authority, Banjagere Jayaprakash, said that the time has come to put a stop to Kasapa Rajdhyaksha. It is unfortunate that he was made a State President. The policy of curtailing the power of the district presidents elected in Prajaprabhu is condemnable. He said that they are doing a rule by knowing the parishat as a company.
