Ailing veterinary hospital in Kaujalagi in need of urgent attention

Kaujalagi

This is the current situation at the veterinary clinic in the local hobli. Due to increased workload and pressure, it seems as though this hospital is functioning and not functioning at the same time. Farmers and gardeners visit daily to bring their livestock for treatment. However, it is common for them to return without treatment due to the unavailability of veterinarians and staff at appropriate times. The veterinary hospital's inability to operate effectively has made the surrounding area resemble a garbage dump.

The veterinary hospital in Kaujalagi serves as the sole center for the 10 nearby villages. Daily, farmers bring goats, sheep, buffalo, and cows for health treatment. However, given the current situation, the hospital appears to be on the verge of closing down.

In response to this issue, Dr. Sanjeev Channala, the veterinary officer at Kaujalagi, stated, "The Kaujalagi veterinary hospital serves 10 surrounding villages, which increases the workload. There is a shortage of staff at the hobli-level veterinary hospital, and I am the only veterinary officer here. I also visit farmers' fields to provide treatment for their animals. More staff is urgently needed."

Despite numerous appeals from the public, the officers from the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Department at the district or taluk level have not addressed this issue. People express frustration that their concerns have been ignored by the authorities.

Farmers have raised complaints about the staffing at Kaujalagi veterinary hospital. I have brought this to the attention of senior officials. We do respond to treatment requests Dr. Mohan Kamath, veterinary officer, Gokak taluk veterinary hospital said.

The staff at the veterinary hospital do not respond properly to farmers. Many cattle have died without treatment when farmers were unable to bring them to the hospital,  Basappa Bhimappa Hosamani, local farmer told.
