Additional surveyors deployed for land survey completion

The Dakshina Kannada district administration has appointed additional surveyors from other districts to speed up the land survey process for darkhastu (government grant) land. This initiative is part of a state-wide drive to complete the Podi process, which involves demarcation and fixing boundaries.
Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan explained that due to a backlog of applications, the government authorized the use of licensed surveyors. A total of 129 surveyors were already assigned to complete the Form 1 to 5 processes, with an additional 50 surveyors from other districts now joining to help accelerate the work.
Surveyors will conduct measurements, and landholders are required to be present to show the boundaries of their approved land and ensure proper placement of boundary stones. The DC urged the public to cooperate with the surveyors during their visits.
Addressing a major issue in Dakshina Kannada, the DC mentioned that land plotting has been difficult for landholders, particularly when selling land. The Revenue Commissioner’s office has developed software to handle Darkhastu cases through the Mojini online platform. The district has 30,685 pending applications, and the process will be completed with the issuance of orders by the tahsildar.
Additionally, 2046 teachers have been trained to conduct the Scheduled Caste internal reservation survey, which will begin in phases starting May 5, with 170 supervisors overseeing the process.
