Accused in SBI ATM robbery case arrested after being shot in the leg

Police from the Suburban Police station have arrested two accused in the case of vandalizing and robbing an SBI ATM on the city’s ring road by shooting them in the legs.

The injured, Tasleem (28) and Sharif (22), accused in the robbery case from Haryana, are undergoing treatment at the trauma centre on the GYM premises.

Police had gone to arrest the accused in the Belur Cross Industrial area on Saturday morning. During this, the accused attacked the police and tried to escape. They attacked constables Manju. Feroze and Rajkumar, police sources said.

Despite being instructed to surrender, the accused continued to attack. Inevitably, in self-defense, Suburban police station CPI Santosh Thattepalli and PSI Basavaraja shot Taslim and Sharif in the legs and arrested them. The constables who were injured in the attack and the accused who received bullet injuries have been admitted to the hospital, it said.

8 cases against arrested robbers Taslim and 3 against Sharif. Cases of ATM robbery have been registered in other states including Karnataka.

On April 9, the same accused broke into an SBI ATM center in Ramanagara on the city ring road, vandalized the ATM machine and robbed it of Rs 18 lakh.
