HUBBALLI

The Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) has identified 4,500 square metres of roads damaged by heavy rainfall during May and June, with areas such as Akshay Park, Dollars Colony, and Old Hubballi among the worst affected. The estimated repair cost is ₹3 crore, and tenders have been floated through zonal offices. Work orders will be issued after the monsoon, officials said.

The damaged roads and potholes have caused significant inconvenience to motorists, particularly two-wheeler riders, leading to traffic delays and accident risks. Despite ongoing issues, locals say HDMC has not yet acted on filling potholes.

Severely affected roads include Moorusavira Mutt Road, New Court Road, Vishweshwar Nagar, Ayodhya Nagar, and stretches from Old Hubballi Circle to Indi Pump, Durga Hotel to Govt School, as well as parts of Ward No. 77, Karnataka Circle, and Navanagar. In Dharwad, areas like Jayanagar, CBT, Hosayallapur, and Myadar Oni have also reported major road damage.

M.M. Hosur, a resident of Old Hubballi, said, “Every year, roads are patched temporarily. Cement concrete roads are needed for lasting quality.”

Rohan Matti, a daily commuter, noted that even smart roads are damaged, and urged HDMC to act swiftly.
