Sushwin, a boy from the commercial city, has entered the India Book of Records by covering 11.18 km in 39 minutes and 24 seconds. He is now 4 years and 8 months old.
On April 5, this boy set this record by cycling from Sattur Ashraya Colony at 6.40 am to Unkal Cross at 7.19 am.
He has been practicing every morning for the past six months. Initially, he started training on the Ring Road, but it didn't go well. So, he started practicing on the Hubballi-Dharwad Road. Initially, he struggled to cover long distances while pedaling the cycle.
Sushwin's entry into cycling was unexpected. His father had a great desire that his son should excel in skating. Vinayak, his father, is a skating coach. He has been providing skating training to those who were eager to learn, for four years. He has taught skating to many school children, including Sanskar School in Hubballi. He used to train his son on the roof of his house every day with the aim of making him excel in skating. However, since his wife was pregnant, the noise of skating on the roof was bothering him. Thus, he stopped skating and focused on cycling. He was selected at the district level in skating and was selected for the state level.
The father and son used to cycle around Anandnagar every day at a set time. Increasing their distance every day, he would eventually cover the 11 km distance in 39.50 minutes. The parents expressed their joy that on the day of writing the India Book of Records record, his mother came to motivate him and he completed the record in just 39.24 seconds.
