Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan dedicated 35 PM SHRI schools in the state to the nation, including PM SHRI Government Model Primary School, Amargol, Hubballi Rural, in Delhi. The school was dedicated through a virtual programme to commemorate five years of NEP 2020.

Addressing the event, HDMC Mayor Jyothi Patil said that education provides a platform for every success and achievement. Primary education should form a solid foundation for life for the children. The various programmes launched under the PM SHRI Yojana to provide education through modern technology are of utmost importance. The education system is changing, and many policies were brought in for the children.

“The request of school management toilet rooms for the schools will be provided. The HDMC is planning for waterless urinals. This can be extended to school,” she said. Girish Padaki, DDPI, said that “SSLC results should be improved. Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Divya Prabhu, Mission Vidya Shakti was launched. This programme should be implemented effectively in schools. All government programmes brought for the development of children should be implemented in schools effectively.”

Former Corporator Ajjappa Horakeri, School Headmaster L.L. Kesari, and others were present at the event. SDMC President Manjunath Soogi highlighted that six classrooms were in a dilapidated state and needed to be demolished. He said the PWD had issued instructions for demolition and urged the authorities to sanction grants for constructing new classrooms to ensure uninterrupted education.

Rural Block Education Officer Umesh Bammakkanavar said they had requested the HDMC to take up the cleaning of school toilets, as the department was struggling with maintenance due to limited grants. If HDMC handles the cleaning, he said, the school’s maintenance funds could be better utilised.
