Ten jammers in the Central Jail, which had not been repaired for many years, have been repaired and updated. As a result, residents of the area around the Central Jail are struggling to get mobile network.

Around 10 jammers have been installed in the Jail to ban the use of mobile phones. The jammers here had not been working properly for some years and were in need of repair. After a strict instruction from the Central Prisons Department to repair the jammers that were not working, all the jammers were repaired and updated on April 15.

The jammers   were initially capable of blocking only 2G network signals. Now, with the repair, they have been updated to block 4G network signals as well.  The jammers are working not only inside the jail, they are also working up to 2 km around the jail.

For this reason, the mobile phones of   people   have been facing network problems for the past few days.

There has been an instruction to use prison jammers so as not to disrupt the daily life of the public, and based on this, the prison superintendent has also called in technicians to ensure that the jammer's impact is limited to the prison perimeter (200 meters).

The jammers in the jail were under repair for a long time. After the repair, their capacity has been increased. Therefore, there have been complaints that the public is also being inconvenienced by this. Our superiors have given instructions in this regard and steps are being taken to ensure that the jammers work in a way that does not inconvenience the public, Central Jail Superintendent R Latha responded.
