World Super Kabaddi League to debut in Dubai

The first-ever World Super Kabaddi League (WSKL) will take place in Dubai early next year, between February and March. Backed by the International Kabaddi Federation (IKF), the tournament will follow a franchise model and feature eight teams in its first season.
The league plans to include players from around 30 countries, combining international stars with top Indian talent. Each team will aim to show kabaddi's strength and attract fans worldwide.
Sambhav Jain, Director and Founder of SJ uplift Kabaddi Pvt Ltd, said the goal of WSKL is to make kabaddi more global and eventually help it become part of the Olympics. He shared that kabaddi deserves a bigger stage, not just in India but across the world.
The league will have a total player purse of Rs 48 crore, showing big financial support and strong investor interest in the sport.
Many countries have already shown excitement about joining the league. Nations like South Korea, Iran, Thailand, Pakistan, Malaysia, Japan, Canada, and the United States have agreed to participate. Talks are also ongoing with other countries to increase global involvement.
This new league hopes to change the way kabaddi is seen and played around the world. By bringing together international and Indian players, WSKL wants to inspire new fans and encourage more countries to develop kabaddi teams.
