Vaidehi Chaudhary made a strong debut at the Billie Jean King Cup 2025, winning her opening singles match in straight sets as India beat Hong Kong 2-1. She defeated Ho Ching Wu 7-6, 6-1 on the third day of the tournament held in Pune.

Though the first set was tough and went into a tie-break, Vaidehi stayed calm and won it 10-8. The second set saw her take full control, finishing the match with ease.

“This win feels great. The first set was difficult because she hit very low balls. But I stayed focused and took it one point at a time,” Vaidehi said.

India, after losing to New Zealand on the first day, bounced back with wins over Thailand and Hong Kong. Vaidehi credited the team’s spirit and support from senior players Ankita Raina and Prarthana Thombare.

“They guide us and share their experiences, which helps a lot,” she said. She also praised team captain Vishal Uppal and coach Radhika Kanitkar Tulpule for their encouragement.

“Vishal sir supports us both in training and mentally. Mental strength matters the most in close matches,” she added.

With high energy and focus in the team, India now aims for a spot in the play-offs, hoping to continue their winning streak at home.
