Vadodara dominates state sports mahakumbh basketball finals

Vadodara emerged as a basketball powerhouse at the state-level Sports Mahakumbh 3.0 tournament held in Patan, sweeping all four championship titles in the boys’ and girls’ under-14 and under-17 categories. This stellar achievement showcased the city’s robust youth training programs and the commitment of its players and coaches.

In the under-14 boys’ final, Vadodara defeated Ahmedabad, with players like Shiven Trilokani, Maan Trilokani, Arin Patel, Ayush Patel, and Sherwin Gamit excelling under the leadership of coach Krunal Parmar and manager Nirav Rathwa. Meanwhile, the under-14 girls’ team triumphed over Anand, spearheaded by Ashi Patel, Hani Patel, Dishi Patel, and Tanya Sharma, coached by Hasmukh Makwana.

Continuing the winning streak, the under-17 girls’ team beat Rajkot, powered by standout performances from Karvi Desai, Nitya Agrawal, and Jhalak Mehta, with coaching support from Sunil Parmar. In the under-17 boys’ final, Vadodara again overcame Ahmedabad, with Dishant Shah, Sahaj Patel, Harsh Patel, and Sarfaraz Syed playing crucial roles, coached by Dr. Pawan Rai and assistant coach Arjun Makwana.

The collective efforts earned Vadodara a total cash prize of Rs. 2.4 lakh, while the coaches received Rs. 36,000 in appreciation of their contributions. The award ceremony was attended by dignitaries including Dinesh Kadam, Secretary of Gujarat Sports Authority; Dr. Arjun Singh Makwana, Sports Director of BRG Group; and Nehal Ramani, Secretary of Baroda District Basketball Association. Dr. Makwana credited Vadodara’s quality basketball courts and experienced coaching for nurturing talents poised to shine nationally.
