Sri Lanka delivered an outstanding all-round performance to defeat the West Indies by 81 runs, securing their second consecutive win in the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025.

Strong batting partnerships set the stage for Sri Lanka's commanding total. Openers Sumudu Nisansala and Sanjana Kavindi put on a quick 48 runs in the powerplay, with Nisansala hitting a stunning six over midwicket. After Nisansala’s dismissal in the seventh over, skipper Manudi Nanayakkara built a solid 48-run stand with Kavindi. Nanayakkara contributed 37 runs, while Dahami Sanethma’s unbeaten 31 from 25 balls helped Sri Lanka reach 166/5 in 20 overs.

In response, the West Indies struggled under pressure as Sri Lankan left-arm spinner Chamudi Praboda dismantled their top order, claiming 3 for 16. Despite a brief resistance led by captain Samara Ramnath, who scored 24 off 23 balls, the Windies lost momentum. Aseni Thalagune took the key wicket of Ramnath, sealing Sri Lanka’s dominance. The Windies were bowled out for 85 in 19.4 overs.

This victory highlights Sri Lanka’s strong start to the tournament, with standout performances from Praboda and the batting unit.

Brief Scores:
