The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has officially announced the return of the T20 Mumbai League after a six-year hiatus, featuring an impressive line-up of icon players. Headlining the roster are India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, and Ajinkya Rahane. The tournament will take place at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium from May 26 to June 8, shortly after the conclusion of IPL 2025. Joining the list of icon players are Sarfaraz Khan, Shardul Thakur, Prithvi Shaw, Shivam Dube, and Tushar Deshpande. Each of the eight franchises will be allowed to select one icon player, bringing a mix of experience and star power to their squads. “We are thrilled to unveil eight icon players who embody the excellence of Mumbai cricket. Their presence will inspire emerging talent and elevate the league’s standard,” said MCA President Ajinkya Naik. The MCA has made it mandatory for all Indian players from Mumbai to participate, barring injury or national commitments. As an incentive, each player will receive ₹15 lakh as an appearance fee, in addition to auction earnings. India’s ODI and Test captain Rohit Sharma has already been introduced as the ‘Face of the League’. Over 2,800 local players have registered, with the player auction scheduled for May. The eight teams competing include North Mumbai Panthers, ARCS Andheri, Triumph Knights, Namo Bandra Blasters, Eagle Thane Strikers, Aakash Tigers, SoBo Falcons, and Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals.
