Indian football star Sunil Chhetri has called for unity and patience as the future of the Indian Super League (ISL) remains unclear. Chhetri shared a heartfelt message on social media, urging everyone in the football community to stay strong and support each other.

The upcoming 2025-26 ISL season has been put on hold because Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) and the All-India Football Federation (AIFF) have not agreed on a new deal. FSDL said they cannot plan or organize the league without a new agreement, as the current one ends on December 8, 2025.

Due to this uncertainty, clubs have postponed their pre-season plans, and some even withdrew from the famous Durand Cup. Chhetri admitted that at first, he was happy about a short delay as it gave him more time to get fit after his vacation. But now, the delay has turned into an indefinite pause, causing serious worry.

Chhetri said many players, staff members, and other workers are anxious about their future and jobs. He shared that he had received many messages from people who are scared and hurt by this situation.

Despite the challenges, Chhetri remains hopeful. He believes the officials will find a solution soon. He encouraged everyone to stay calm and support one another. "We’ll ride this storm together," he said. He asked players and staff to keep training and stay ready because football will return.
