Srikanth advances to second round of Thailand Masters

Kidambi Srikanth made a strong start at the Thailand Masters BWF Super 300 event, defeating Israel’s Danii Dubovenko in straight games in the opening round. Srikanth won 21-13, 21-18, showcasing his dominance, especially in the first game with a 6-0 lead. He will next face Hong Kong's Jason Gunawan in the second round.

In other men’s singles action, S Sankar Muthusamy Subramanian triumphed over Malaysia’s June Wei Cheam in a thrilling three-game contest, 15-21, 21-15, 21-19. Subramanian will meet Indonesia’s Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo next. However, Ayush Shetty and Mithun Manjunath were eliminated from the tournament. Shetty lost 15-21, 17-21 to Malaysia’s Jing Hong Kok, while Manjunath fell to Sholeh Aidil 14-21, 13-21.

In doubles, Indian players had mixed results. Rohan Kapoor and Ruthvika Shivani Gadde secured a convincing 21-8, 21-16 win in mixed doubles over Thailand’s Phakjarung and Chueboca. They will face another Thai pair in the second round. In men’s doubles, Ruben Kumar and Hariharan also triumphed, defeating Thailand’s Jamtubtim and Makkasasithorn 21-18, 21-12.
