Si Woo Kim missed the Masters for the first time in nine years, and that disappointment has fueled his charge at the RBC Heritage. The South Korean golfer fired a brilliant 7-under 64 on Friday to tie for second at 10-under, just two shots behind leader Justin Thomas.

Kim admitted frustration watching the Masters last week after missing the cut in Texas, costing him a spot at Augusta. “I got so much frustrated... but I’m just trying to focus this week,” he said.

Despite struggling this season, Kim showed promise with six birdies, one bogey, and a stunning eagle on the par-5 5th after a 276-yard approach to five feet. He’s been switching between putters this year but found success this week, currently ranking second in putting.

Justin Thomas leads the tournament at 12-under after rounds of 61 and 69. Big names like Scottie Scheffler (8-under), Collin Morikawa, Brian Harman, and Wyndham Clark (all 7-under) remain close behind.

Kim, a four-time PGA Tour winner, nearly claimed victory at Harbour Town in 2018 and seems ready to make another strong push. “You don’t have to hit it far on this course. Even short hitters can play well, which is why I like it,” Kim said.

He added that while nerves and doubts affected his early play, solid iron shots and smart choices have helped him regain confidence heading into the weekend.
