Indian men’s doubles stars Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty entered the quarterfinals of the Indonesia Open 2025 after a thrilling three-game win. They defeated Denmark’s Rasmus Kjaer and Frederik Sogaard 16-21, 21-18, 22-20 in a tough match lasting one hour and eight minutes in the BWF Super 1000 tournament.

After losing the first game, Satwik and Chirag fought back strongly to take the next two games and seal a hard-earned victory. Their performance keeps India’s hopes alive in the men’s doubles category.

However, India suffered setbacks in other categories. In women’s singles, PV Sindhu lost to Thailand’s Pornpawee Chochuwong in the Round of 16. Sindhu took the first game after recovering from a 10-16 deficit. But Chochuwong came back strongly to win the next two games 21-10 and 21-18, ending Sindhu’s campaign.

In women’s doubles, Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand also crashed out. They lost to Japan’s Yuki Fukushima and Mayu Matsumoto in straight games 13-21, 22-24. Despite a close second game, the Indian pair couldn’t push the match to a decider.

Mixed doubles saw another exit for India as Sathish Karunakaran and Aadya Variyath went down to Thailand’s Dechapol Puavarankuroh and Supissara Paewsampran. The Thai pair won easily 21-7, 21-12 in just 25 minutes.

With Satwik and Chirag as the only Indians still in the fray, all eyes will now be on their next quarterfinal clash as the tournament enters its crucial stage.
