World number one Aryna Sabalenka triumphed over American Coco Gauff 6-3, 7-6 (3) to win her third Madrid Open title, marking her 20th career WTA Tour singles title. Sabalenka's victory in Madrid adds to her impressive season, securing her third title of the year after wins in Brisbane and Miami. The 26-year-old now joins Petra Kvitova as the only players in history to win three Madrid titles, with victories in 2021, 2023, and 2025. She is also only the second player to win both Miami and Madrid in the same season, following Serena Williams in 2013.

Sabalenka dominated the first set, overwhelming Gauff with powerful forehands and solid baseline play. Gauff mounted a challenge in the second set, but Sabalenka held firm, saving a set point at 5-4 to seal her victory in 1 hour and 39 minutes. With this win, Sabalenka strengthens her position at the top of the WTA rankings, now leading by nearly 4,000 points over second-ranked Iga Swiatek. Sabalenka’s impressive season includes three WTA 1000 titles and a commanding lead in the Race to the WTA Finals, where she is the only player with three titles so far.
