Bengaluru’s Rohaan Madesh and local racer Shiv Neel both celebrated double wins at the first round of the MECO-FMSCI National Karting Championship Rotax Max Classes held at the CoASTT circuit in Coimbatore.
Rohaan, racing for Peregrine Racing, dominated the Senior Max category. He held off a strong challenge from Mumbai’s Aahil Mecklai to win the Finals after also winning the Pre-Finals. Bengalurean Rishon Rajeev finished third. The Senior Max had Asia’s biggest grid, featuring 34 drivers.
In the Junior Max category, Chennai’s Eshanth Vengatesan took the win after Pune’s Arafath Sheikh and Mumbai’s Kiaan Shah collided midway. Eshanth moved up from third to first and secured victory. Bengaluru’s Rishik Rohit Reddy initially finished third but got a five-second penalty, dropping him to fourth. This pushed Bengaluru’s Thimmaiah Yohan up to third place.
In the Mini Max class, Chennai’s Rivaan Dev Preetam made a strong comeback. After finishing third in the Pre-Finals, he took an early lead in the Finals and never looked back, winning comfortably. Faridabad’s Yatharth Gaur finished second and Mumbai’s Hamza Balasinorwala came third.
Local star Shiv Neel shone in the Micro Max category. He won both the Pre-Finals and Finals, achieving a double victory. In the Finals, he finished ahead of Bengaluru’s Zidaan Arshaan Anees and Shiv Thummala.
The championship’s first round saw intense battles and surprise results, exciting motorsport fans. With more rounds ahead, drivers will look to continue their strong performances and fight for the top spot in their respective categories.
