PSG breaks record with 1-1 Nantes draw
Nantes
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) made football history by extending their unbeaten away streak in France’s Ligue 1 to 39 matches. With a 1-1 draw against FC Nantes, PSG surpassed the old record held by AC Milan of 38 unbeaten away games in Europe’s top five leagues.
The match began with PSG taking control. In the 33rd minute, midfielder Vitinha scored the opening goal. The play started with Ousmane Dembélé on the right wing, who passed to Kang-in Lee. The South Korean set up Vitinha with a smart pass despite a tough challenge. Vitinha then fired a left-footed shot into the net.
PSG kept the lead into halftime, but Nantes did not give up. In the 83rd minute, Matthis Abline made a strong run and passed the ball to Douglas Augusto. Augusto scored with a powerful left-footed shot, beating goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The draw was important for Nantes. They are now four points ahead of Le Havre, who sit in the relegation playoff position. With key matches against Angers and Montpellier coming up, Nantes will try to earn enough points to stay in Ligue 1.
After the game, Abline said the team had worked hard and was proud to earn a point against the league champions.
