Priyansh Arya, the 23-year-old left-handed opener for Punjab Kings, is all set to make his debut today (Tuesday) in the IPL 2025 season. Hailing from New Delhi, Priyansh's cricket journey began at the LB Shastri Cricket Club, training under renowned coach Sanjay Bhardwaj, who also mentored India’s current head coach, Gautam Gambhir.

Priyansh’s inspiration for joining the IPL came from the iconic 2008 IPL opening game, where Brendon McCullum smashed an unforgettable 158. “I watched that match and dreamed of playing in the IPL,” he recalls. Priyansh, known for his aggressive batting style, is excited to bring his flair to the field, especially after being hailed by Punjab’s new head coach, Ricky Ponting, as a potential star.

Priyansh first caught attention with a sensational performance in the Delhi Premier League (DPL), where he hit six sixes in an over and scored 608 runs at a strike rate of 198.69. This led to a call-up for the IPL trials, eventually securing his place in Punjab Kings for IPL 2025.

Priyansh’s standout moment came during the 2024/25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he scored 325 runs, including a blistering 43-ball 102. This performance, coupled with his consistent six-hitting ability, caught the eye of IPL scouts.

As he prepares for his debut, Priyansh remains focused on learning from experienced players like Shreyas Iyer and Ricky Ponting, aiming to leave a lasting impact on the tournament.
