New Delhi
The second edition of the Khelo India Para Games (KIPG) 2025 has quickly become a major platform for para athletes, with over 1,300 participants competing across six disciplines. The games have not only showcased thrilling performances but have also introduced emerging stars in the world of para sports.
By day four, 132 medals had been awarded across five sports, and the competition has witnessed major upsets and inspiring finishes. Participants have particularly praised the arrangements, which they say meet international standards.
Svayam, the accessibility partner for KIPG 2025, conducted comprehensive audits of venues, including stadiums, hotels, and transport facilities, ensuring barrier-free access for all athletes. Tamil Nadu’s Ramesh Shanmugam, who won three medals in track and field, commended the government for organizing the event. “The facilities here are fantastic. It’s a great platform for wheelchair athletes, and the media coverage motivates us,” he said.
Para badminton gold medalist Sanjeev Kumar also lauded the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Sports Authority of India for fostering an atmosphere that supports para sports. "It’s a matter of pride to compete at Khelo India Para Games," said Kumar.
Team officials also shared their appreciation for the meticulous arrangements, highlighting accessibility features like ramps, low-floor buses, and specially designed washrooms. Dr. Muskan, a physio for Rajasthan para shooting, mentioned the excellent accommodations and accessibility.
The Paralympics Committee of India praised the government's efforts, calling the event one of the best-managed para sports tournaments, matching, if not exceeding, global standards.
