Pant, Duckett hit career-high Test rankings
New Delhi
Rishabh Pant and Ben Duckett have reached their best-ever ICC Test rankings after their centuries in the exciting Leeds Test — the first match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, which England won by five wickets.
Pant, India’s vice-captain, made 134 and 118 — becoming only the second wicketkeeper after Andy Flower to score two centuries in one Test. He now has a career-best rating of 801 and has moved up one spot to seventh in the ICC Test Batting Rankings.
England opener Ben Duckett scored 62 in the first innings and 149 in a thrilling run chase of 371. His performance earned him the Player of the Match award and helped him rise five spots to eighth with a career-best rating of 787.
Other Indian players also saw gains. Shubman Gill moved up five spots to return to the top 20, while KL Rahul rose ten places to 38th. Yashasvi Jaiswal kept his fourth place in the rankings.
Among England players, Ollie Pope jumped three places to 19th after scoring a century. Wicketkeeper Jamie Smith moved to a career-best 27th following scores of 40 and 44.
In the bowling rankings, England’s Josh Tongue climbed 16 spots to 64th after taking seven wickets. Ben Stokes moved to 49th among bowlers and rose three places to fifth among all-rounders.
From the drawn Galle Test, Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim jumped 11 places to 28th. Najmul Hossain Shanto, after scoring two centuries, surged 21 spots to 29th, while Pathum Nissanka advanced 21 spots to 31st with his 187.
