Palmer stars as Chelsea beat PSG 3-0
New Jersey
Chelsea FC won the first-ever FIFA Club World Cup title after a big 3-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain at the MetLife Stadium on Monday. Cole Palmer was the star of the match, scoring two goals and assisting another as Chelsea dominated the final.
In the first half, Palmer scored twice within eight minutes. First, he finished off a pass from Joao Pedro in the 22nd minute. Then, he dribbled forward and curled a beautiful shot into the bottom corner.
Just before halftime, Palmer passed perfectly to Joao Pedro, who chipped the ball over PSG’s goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma to make it 3-0. This goal crushed PSG’s hopes of a comeback.
Chelsea finished the tournament as the top scorers with 17 goals, just ahead of PSG, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich who had 16 each. PSG, who hoped to win four major trophies this season, were shocked by Chelsea’s powerful attack and looked weak after their strong semi-final win over Real Madrid.
Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca made two key changes, bringing in Levi Colwill and Reece James. These changes worked well as Chelsea started strong and kept PSG under pressure throughout the match.
PSG tried to fight back but could not break Chelsea’s solid defense. In the second half, PSG’s Joao Neves was sent off for pulling Marc Cucurella’s hair, ending any chance of a comeback.
Chelsea’s brilliant win shows they will be a big threat in the Premier League and Champions League next season. With this victory, Chelsea made history and celebrated in front of cheering fans.
