Odisha FC will fight to keep their playoff hopes alive when they face Mohammedan SC in the Indian Super League (ISL) today (Friday).

Currently seventh with 29 points from 22 matches, Odisha trail sixth-placed Mumbai City FC (32 points) by three points. However, Mumbai have a game in hand. East Bengal FC (27 points) and Kerala Blasters FC (24 points) are also in the playoff hunt, making every point crucial for Odisha.

Sergio Lobera’s side is unbeaten in their last three home games (W1, D2) and will aim for back-to-back home wins for the first time since early 2024. They will also look to bounce back from a 0-1 loss to Mohun Bagan in their last outing. With 41 goals this season—second-highest in the league—Odisha’s attacking duo of Diego Mauricio (nine goals, six assists) and Isak Vanlalruatfela (three goals, four assists) will be key.

“We want to believe until the end and keep fighting for the playoffs,” said Lobera.

Meanwhile, Mohammedan SC sit at the bottom with just 11 points from 21 matches. They have lost their last five games and risk setting a new club record for consecutive defeats. However, both their wins this season have come away from home, offering a glimmer of hope.

“Our performance hasn’t been great, but we always try to give our best,” said Mohammedan SC’s assistant coach Mehrajuddin Wadoo.
