Dhaka
Bangladesh cricketer Nasir Hossain has returned to professional cricket after completing a two-year ban imposed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for breaching anti-corruption rules during the 2020–21 Abu Dhabi T10 League.
On Monday, he featured for Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club in their Dhaka Premier Division League match against Gazi Group Cricketers at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed that Hossain has now met all conditions for his return, including attending a mandatory anti-corruption education session. He is officially eligible to play from April 7, 2025.
Hossain played 19 Tests, 65 ODIs, and 31 T20Is for Bangladesh between 2011 and 2018. In September 2023, he was banned for two years (with six months suspended) for violating the Emirates Cricket Board’s code while with the Pune Devils in the T10 League.
The first charge against him was failing to report a valuable gift—an iPhone 12 worth over $750. The second was not disclosing an approach for corrupt conduct made via that phone. The third was his failure to cooperate with investigators during the inquiry.
Now that his ban is over, the 33-year-old all-rounder is looking to rebuild his cricketing career. His return marks a significant moment, and many fans will be watching to see how he performs in the coming domestic matches.
