Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will join the special ‘Cycling with Teachers’ event on May 4 at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in Delhi. The event is part of the Fit India Movement’s "Fit India Sundays on Cycle" initiative and focuses on educators like teachers and coaches.

The cycling event supports India’s "Fight Obesity" campaign. Since launching in December 2024, the initiative has reached over 5,000 locations with 2.5 lakh participants across age groups.

Top Indian badminton stars Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, who recently received the Khel Ratna award from Mandaviya, praised the campaign. Satwik recalled enjoying a cycle ride during a recent visit home, while Chirag emphasized cycling’s dual benefits—health and environmental.

The May 4 event starts at 7 a.m. and will be flagged off at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium. Besides Minister Mandaviya, it will feature Member of Parliament and actor-singer Manoj Tiwari, and mountaineer Narender Kumar, who recently climbed Mount Annapurna in 12 days.

The cycling initiative is run by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in partnership with the Cycling Federation of India, My Bikes, and MY Bharat. By engaging teachers and mentors this week, organizers hope to inspire students and communities to embrace cycling regularly.

Cycling not only boosts physical health but also encourages eco-friendly commuting habits. The event promises to be a celebration of fitness, community, and sustainability—led by some of India’s top public figures and role models.
