Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Saturday inaugurated a new Khelo India multipurpose sports hall in Kamle district of Arunachal Pradesh, marking a major push for sports development in remote areas. The facility, built at a cost of ₹8 crore, is fully funded by the central government under the Khelo India initiative.

Speaking at the event, Mandaviya said the hall reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of identifying and nurturing sports talent from every corner of the country. “Through such facilities, we aim to create opportunities for youth to shine in sports and contribute to nation-building,” he said.

The minister also interacted with local youth and athletes, encouraging them to use the facility to improve their skills. He underlined the role of sports in promoting discipline, fitness, and an active lifestyle among young people.

The new indoor facility includes training amenities for sports such as boxing, badminton, table tennis, judo, wushu, karate, taekwondo, volleyball, and weightlifting. It is designed to support grassroots talent and help young athletes train professionally to compete at national and international levels.

Arunachal Pradesh Sports Minister Kento Jini, Labour and Employment Minister Nyato Dukam, and local MLA Rotom Tebin attended the event. Officials from the Sports Authority of India, state government, and other dignitaries were also present.

Mandaviya praised Arunachal’s sports potential and highlighted the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure in the Northeast.
