Luis Diaz has officially joined Bayern Munich, ending his three-and-a-half-year spell at Liverpool. The 28-year-old Colombian winger signed a four-year deal with the German champions, keeping him at the club until June 30, 2029. Diaz will wear the number 14 jersey. Reports suggest the transfer fee is around £65 million.

Speaking after his move, Diaz said, “It means a lot to be part of FC Bayern, one of the biggest clubs in the world. I want to help with my football and personality.”

Diaz arrived at Liverpool from FC Porto in January 2022. He made a strong impact, scoring six goals and providing four assists in his debut season. That year, Liverpool won both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, beating Chelsea in both finals on penalties.

Despite a serious knee injury in 2022–23, Diaz returned to form. Over the next two seasons, he played 101 matches, scoring 30 goals and providing 10 assists. Under new Liverpool manager Arne Slot, Diaz took on a central striker’s role during the 2023–24 season, scoring 17 goals, including 13 in the Premier League, as Liverpool clinched the league title with four games left.

Fans will remember his brace at Old Trafford and a Champions League hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen. In total, Diaz leaves Liverpool with four major trophies, including the Premier League title. His pace, flair, and attacking presence made him one of Liverpool’s standout performers.

At Bayern, Diaz hopes to carry his momentum into the Bundesliga and Champions League.
