Liverpool FC announces memorial for Jota Brothers
Liverpool
Liverpool FC has announced a permanent memorial sculpture at Anfield to honor Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva, who tragically passed away earlier this month. The club thanked supporters worldwide for their heartfelt tributes at the stadium, where thousands of items have been left.
A special tribute area outside Anfield has become a place for fans to mourn together. People have brought flowers, scarves, artworks, and messages. Even Liverpool players, staff, and the brothers’ family have visited the site.
Liverpool also confirmed they will retire the number 20 shirt, worn by Diogo Jota, across all club teams. The club is carefully removing tributes from the area; flowers will be composted for use at club locations, while other items will be recycled and used in the new memorial sculpture.
Until the sculpture is ready, a temporary reflection area is open. Special tributes will take place during pre-season games, with a big commemoration planned for the home game against AFC Bournemouth on August 15.
