In a major upset at the Charleston Open, Anna Kalinskaya defeated Madison Keys, the reigning Australian Open champion, 6-2, 6-4 to return to the quarterfinals for the first time since 2023. The Russian, currently ranked outside the Top 10, capitalized on a patchy performance by Keys to claim her first Top 10 victory in nearly a year.

Kalinskaya will face Sofia Kenin next, after the 2020 Australian Open winner stunned No. 5 seed Daria Kasatkina 6-3, 7-6(7) in the night session.

Top seed Jessica Pegula also advanced, cruising past Ajla Tomljanovic 6-3, 6-2, and will meet defending champion Danielle Collins in the quarters. Collins rallied from a 2-4 deficit in the first set to defeat Jelena Ostapenko 7-5, 6-3, marking her third quarterfinal appearance in four years at the event.

In other matches, Amanda Anisimova continued her Charleston dominance over Yulia Putintseva, winning 6-4, 6-4—mirroring her 2022 second-round victory. Anisimova will now face Emma Navarro, who came back from a set and a break down to defeat Ashlyn Krueger 4-6, 6-4, 6-2, delighting her hometown crowd.

Third seed and Olympic champion Zheng Qinwen battled past Elise Mertens in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. She will meet Ekaterina Alexandrova, who needed just 54 minutes to dismantle Dianna Shnaider 6-2, 6-1.

With multiple upsets and tight battles, the Charleston Open quarterfinals are shaping up as an intense showcase of both emerging and established talent.
