Joao Pedro’s two goals send Chelsea through
New Jersey
Joao Pedro scored two amazing goals to help Chelsea reach the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 final, breaking the dreams of his former club Fluminense at MetLife Stadium.
Pedro, who grew up at Fluminense, scored once in each half to send Chelsea to an all-European final against either Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain.
His first goal came in the 18th minute when he fired a powerful shot from 20 yards into the far corner of the net. The second goal came just after halftime when he ran forward and smashed the ball in off the crossbar.
Chelsea controlled the game early, keeping most of the ball and creating chances. Pedro and Pedro Neto started a quick attack that led to the first goal, leaving the Fluminense defense helpless.
Fluminense tried to fight back. Hercules nearly scored but Marc Cucurella cleared it off the line. Later, Fluminense thought they won a penalty for handball, but after a video review, the referee decided there was no foul.
In the second half, Chelsea stayed strong and sealed the game in the 56th minute with Pedro’s second goal, a beautiful strike that left the goalkeeper with no chance. Pedro did not celebrate wildly, showing respect for his former team.
Chelsea had more chances to score, but Nkunku’s shot was cleared, and Jackson missed a good opportunity.
Coach Enzo Maresca and his players are now just one win away from becoming world champions. They will play the final on Sunday at MetLife Stadium, hoping to lift the trophy and make history.
