Indian archers Rishabh Yadav and Jyothi Surekha Vennam created history at the Archery World Cup in Madrid. They set a new world record in the Compound Mixed Team event during the qualification round.

The Indian pair scored a total of 1431 points with 70 Xs (perfect center shots). This broke the earlier record of 1429 set by Denmark’s Tanja Gellenthien and Mathias Fullerton at the 2023 European Games.

Rishabh felt very happy about this achievement. He said it was special because the mixed team event is now part of the Olympics. The pair had earlier won gold together in Florida but did not compete together in the next two stages. Now, back together, they showed great teamwork and strong shooting skills.

In the individual events, both Rishabh and Jyothi secured top seed positions. Rishabh was leading among 85 athletes and almost broke another world record. He scored 716 points, which is his personal best. His teammates, Priyansh and Aman Saini, finished 10th and 11th.

Jyothi also achieved her personal best score of 715 points and became the top seed in the women’s category. She felt very confident about her performance and said her practice felt perfect that day.

In the women’s team event, Jyothi, Parneet Kaur, and 16-year-old Prithika Pradeep helped India finish first with 2116 points, ahead of Mexico and South Korea.

This strong performance shows that Indian archers are in great form and ready to achieve even bigger goals in the future.
