India tops ODI, T20 rankings; Australia leads tests
Dubai
India continues to lead the ICC Men’s ODI and T20I rankings, while Australia retains the number one spot in Test cricket, following the International Cricket Council’s annual rankings update released Monday. In the ODI format, India now hold 124 rating points, improving their lead from 12 to 15 points. This follows their Champions Trophy win in 2025 and a 3-0 home series victory against England. In T20Is, India remains first, despite their lead over second-placed Australia narrowing to nine points. India’s T20 success includes a World Cup win and sweeping Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and others. New Zealand have climbed to second place in ODIs, pushing Australia to third. Sri Lanka made the biggest jump, moving from sixth to fourth. Afghanistan overtook England, and West Indies passed Bangladesh to secure ninth. In T20Is, Sri Lanka surpassed Pakistan to reach seventh, while Ireland moved ahead of Zimbabwe to 11th. Canada is the top gainer, rising to 19th with a nine-point boost. The Bahamas and Estonia also made major moves in the rankings. This year, 100 teams were ranked in T20Is, up from 80 in 2019, as more nations have played eight or more matches. In Tests, Australia leads with 126 points, despite their lead shrinking from 15 to 13. They beat India 3-1 at home and won 2-0 in Sri Lanka. England moved to second, benefiting from both recent series wins and the removal of earlier losses from 2021–22. India and South Africa dropped one place each to fourth and third, respectively. Only 10 teams are officially ranked in Tests; Ireland and Afghanistan must play more matches to join the list.
