New Delhi
India has sent a 56-member youth boxing team to compete in the Asian U-15 and U-17 Boxing Championships in Amman, Jordan. The squad includes 30 boxers in the U-15 category and 26 in the U-17, along with coaches and officials. They reached Jordan on April 17, and matches begin on April 19.
This championship is the first organized by Asian Boxing and is backed by the Olympic Council of Asia and World Boxing. It marks a major opportunity for young boxers to shine on the international stage.
In the U-17 boys’ group, medal winners like Sahil Duhan, Devansh, and Tikam Singh will lead the charge. On the girls’ side, medalists Samiksha Singh, Anshika, and Khushi Chand are key names.
The U-15 team features talented boxers such as Ravi Sihag, a bronze winner at the 2024 Asian School Boys Championship, and Trushna Mohite, a national sub-junior champion.
This event is important for India’s long-term sports goals, including a possible bid to host the 2036 Olympics. The Interim Committee of Indian boxing has worked hard to support these athletes and help Indian boxing grow.
The young athletes will aim to win medals and gain valuable experience. The tournament is expected to strengthen India’s boxing future and grassroots talent.
