India End Asian U18 meet with 11 medals

India finished with 11 medals at the Asian U18 Athletics Championships 2025 held in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. The medals include one gold, five silver, and five bronze.

Himanshu won India’s only gold in the boys' javelin throw with a throw of 67.57 meters. This was India's first-ever gold in boys' javelin at this championship.

On April 16, Nitin Gupta won India’s first medal of the event. He got silver in the 5000m race walk, clocking 20:21.51 seconds, just 0.01 seconds behind the winner from China.

In the girls' 400m race, Tannu won silver with a time of 57.63 seconds. Aarti won bronze medals in both 100m and 200m sprints, setting personal bests of 11.93s and 24.31s.

Nischay won two medals—a silver in shot put with a 19.59m throw and a bronze in discus throw with 58.85m. Devak Bhushan took silver in high jump with a 2.03m leap.

The boys’ medley relay team won silver, setting a national youth record of 1:52.15. However, the girls’ relay team could not finish the race.

India had won 24 medals in the 2023 edition. Although this time they got fewer medals, the young Indian athletes showed strong performances and signs of growth in the sport.
